for those wanting tablet styled apps, if you edit your build.prop file and alter the density to 160 (it might be in there twice, do both), you should find that you start getting tablet views rather than phone views. It's what I've done on a few android devices. Take a backup first though !

Plume, for example, is stunning in tablet view.

I don't really watch media on my tablet. But... With VLC writing an app, and an XBMC one on the way. It should soon be able to support all codecs.

They seem to be available for pick-up today from PCWorld stores. Only the £199 version though.

    Uh Oh

Is Your Nexus 7’s Screen Loose?

Google's new Nexus 7 is a great little tablet, but it may have bigger problems than being difficult to unpack: we're hearing reports that suggest many of the devices have a loose screen.
Phandroid reports that, in some cases, the screen creaks whenever pressure is applied to it. Over time, some users have even reported that the glass begins to protrude over the edge of the bezel. A thread on XDA Developers suggests that it's easy enough to fix by taking off the back and tightening a couple of screws, though. Is your screen loose? Have you tried the fix? [Phandroid, XDA Developers]

My first and last experience with an Asus tablet was the £500 Transformer Prime. Like thousands of other users, I returned mine for QC issues (stuck pixels, non existent GPS, screen bleed etc..). If they can marry QC and build quality with their innovative design they would be able to challenge the likes of Samsung and Apple.

LOL. I went through three different Transformer Prime's. Returned them all.

No surprise to be hearing such things with an ASUS product.

If you are a Googlephile like me, then this is nirvana. It was delivered at 11am and I think I've used it more in the last 6 hours than I ever used my iPad. As expected the integration with Google products is slick and seamless. It's what I wanted from a tablet experience. I can't fault it yet, but I'm looking hard for faults, but so far this is the best tablet I've tested, bar none and by some margin.

Well my 8Gb version finally arrived today. I wasn't too keen with the Apple-esq packaging attempt as the device almost fell out of the box as I lifted the lid!

Regarding the Nexus 7 - I really like the more compact size compared to my iPad 3 and am impressed with how zippy and responsive it is. I've only had a chance to check out the Transformers 3 movie and a few apps - well chuffed so far!

    Thanks to ZX7R

You'll love this, I tried to cancel my order because I wanted a different delivery address and I sent 7 emails over a period of 2 weeks and not one was answered. Luckily I was home when it was delivered. Google may make great products but their customer service is fucked

Anyone had any of the reported issues with the touch screen becoming unresponsive?

I was thinking about getting one but the report on Geek.com shows it and to be honest it's really bad which has out me off.

Well I reconsidered and thought I'd buy one over the counter today only to find they are sold out everywhere. Must be fate.

Touch wood my screen is fine.
    Still loving it.

*actually*.... He mentions Tegra 3 games causing issues.... I need to install it again as it might have been me not using it correctly, but one game appeared as if the controls were just not working... Was a pin ball one.

No issues with the screen here either.

I've been doing some extensive tests on ebook readers too. I've found that Aldiko is hands down the best reader imho. Imports most formats straight from Drive.
