Had a play with one for the first time today and honestly I thought it felt cheap. Knowing Asus pedigree with build quality I can see them looking tatty in a relatively short period of time. Can't argue with the price one bit tho.

Yea it was lol. It's built to a price isn't it. The tegra 2 platform was the same, there were 200 quid tablets around back then too.

Don't get me wrong, for the money it's good but it's nothing earth shattering or new

I think the build quality is pretty impressive. I have had some of the cheap tablets pass my hands, but this is solid.

Agree with CJ and Goldberg, sorry Malty , I think build quality is good and much better than other similar priced tablets or readers.

I think some of us got harm late as they pulled back stock to check the torque of the screens but can't fault mine or my mates

My case arrived today and has the magnetic lid to activate or deactivate sleep mode, well worth a look guys

that's odd, you'd think they wouldn't dispatch until paid. I'm wondering if your cancellation email reached the credit dept but not the dispatch dept

I expect they were inundated with orders and they process them in batches.
Would not be the first time I forgot about something only to find the cash come out a month or so later!

Can any one who has also had a Kindle tell me what its like to read a book on the Nexus using the kindle app in comparison?

Not used my kindle for a while, but I did read a short book on the nexus.
It's better than my iPad 1 but I'd rather read a kindle.

I charge my iPad about once every two weeks with the use I have, the nexus is twice a week. I am taking it to work everyday however.

I started reading idiot abroad diary that I got for 20p. Started it on knidle then moved to Nexus. The colour screen is far superior for the images and map bits. Reading it is better for me as it is a backlit screen meaning no clip on lights or moaning missus. It's not as heavy as the ipad but not as light as the kindle, but it doesn't make much difference over the kindle in that dept. I struggle with the ipad but find the other two more than manageable.

As for Battery life, mines getting a fair hammer each day and I have charged it 4 or 5 times now so 2-3 times a week but it is used for a couple of hours each night.

Were heading down to Legoland tomorrow so packed mine full of MKV's for the wee man to watch. Great quality from it using V player or MX player. Wonder if we'll see a 10 in version.
