Google reveals Nexus 7 tablet made by Asus and shows off Project Glass

I grabbed one of eBay that does. Someone posted a link earlier in the thread. Put the unit to sleep etc that is.

The only problem is that case covers the bezel, and also introduces a little more bulk (not much judging by the pictures). The official one leaves the bezel free from obstruction and adds at most a mm or 2 to the overall dimensions and not much more weight. I found a potential way to hack the case to give sleep/wake functionality. It involves using an adhesive magnetic strip on the cover and a steel shim on the underside of the unit (to avoid a more powerful magnetic from shutting off the Nexus when you fold the cover over).

And will it damage the screen at all?
Mines just a spare for work. I carry it about in a neoprene wallet

It shouldn't do, in the example below his magnet is thin and disk shaped and its held in place with tape which should protect the screen from scratches. I'm not sure if the Nexus 7 has Gorilla Glass? if it does then I wouldn't even be concerned
