Info New lens or new lenses

Saved up enough to get 24-105 l series lens but my girlfriend said it was about time I looked into getting laser eye surgery as I am all ways moaning about holding things at arms length to read .. So it seams prices start at £395 per eye but will take that with pinch of salt more like £1000 an eye .. So could any members on here give us there expierance on what they had done best ones to go to ....

Or should I just get my l series strap camera to my head place on auto focus and away I go ...

My Bro had his eyes lasered and they fucked one of them up but then a few months later he had that eye done again (guess they gave him a free relaser) and its ok now.

Would stick clear of the £400 theres some horror stories out there and after all you only get 1 set of eyes and if they fucked how you going to watch porn :-0

    Thanks to akimba

My Dad's mate had it done and worked no problem both eyes are fine now.

But as you suspect the £395 per eye is bull shit I know a few who have been based on that and not one of them was sutable for the procedure.

Your £800 for the 24-105 wont come close to the cost of the laser eye surgery so I would buy the lens.

Depends on your prescription, if you can see fine atm without glasses or very very very weak glasses then you can pay £395 an eye...

As your strength gets worse, you pay more... also if you don't want them using a scalpel to cut the flap, you often have to pay extra for them to use a laser

Next question should you buy the EF 24-105 F/4 IS or the 24-70 f/2.8? if your on a crop sensor should you be considering the EF-s 17-55 f/2.8?

    LOL

I'd go for the 24-105 mate due to the cost, weight, and IS and over the Efs lens as you may want to upgrade to full frame in the future.
Although if you've got money to burn like LJ, get the 24-70

Tell me about the red ring hmm that doesnt really come out quite right.

I went from kit lens to 24-70 and a 70-200 so never really saw the difference in performance of a none kit lens. The 10-22 isnt L but I have a bang on copy and I have kept the 500D just for that lens. In the last 6 month I have bought 2 1Dmk4's and upgraded the 50mm 1.8 to the 1.4

If you want to try the 24-70 pop down the M62

Yup the 10-22 was one of my fave lenses on my 50d, was on it most of the time.
    Think I've got a 50mm fetish, got a 50-1.4, sigma 50mm 1.4 and a canon 50mm 2.5 macro, all sharp as a tack.

    Thanks to cybollox
