Advice Need to turn a HDMI signal into RF

    Hi,

I want to take the HDMI out signal from my media centre, and plum it round the house, using the existing RF sockets in each room.

I Guess ill need an old VCR with HDMI in, and RF out, but I cant find any.

Does anyone know of anything, or have one they want to sell.

Its a bitch searching for it on google, becuase every result is about people wanting to do it the other way round

    Thanks,

    Fon

I think you probably need to find an RF modulator and bastardize it with a HDMI socket. I looked for HDMI in RF modulators, but they are rare and expensive.

to be honest you may be looking at something like:

    HDMI to SCART box

    SCART TO RF box

then use an RF splitter to go to each room

i was wondering the same thing but you could use the VCR in place on the SCART to RF box
possibly an old DVD player would do the same?

What's your media centre ? Does it not have composite video and audio's out as well ?
If it does, a simple RF modulator would suffice.

Other than that, you can forget a VCR with HDMI, I am sure no such thing exists...you are probably going to have to look for a DVD Recorder with RF out and HDMI in.

Thanks guys, but my media centre only supports HDMI out. ( I need the audio too remember)

X, that possibly could work, but its meant to be used over a bnc coax, so I think the impedance with my current 8 room, RF signal mashup might be an issue, plus ill have to buy a receiver for each room!

Saying that if I run out of options ill probably give it a go!

grab an f connector slap it on some ct100 or 125 grab an F to Bnc connector and make the fly leads yourself to your wall sockets.
i cant see why that wouldn't work. but yeah you need a box per room,.

    Thanks to -X-

be careful what method you use for this as im sure CRT TV's cannot handle the higher resolutions provided via HDMI so you will definitely need some device to downgrade the signal properly before its split to the rooms

What type of media centre do you have. I would've thought that an A/V receiver would do part of the job, hdmi to composite (& then use a composite to RF adapter or old video recorder).

    Thanks to pattikins
