Clinching this year's Gold Award, along with £2,000, was Gaby Wood for an image entitled 'Dead Deer'. Commenting on her winning picture, which beat more than 3,000 entries, Gaby said: ‘This photo was taken last summer in Princeton, New Jersey, the day before Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast. ‘I went for a run early one morning and found this beautiful young stag, very recently dead.
‘When I went back to get my camera I also hauled my children out of their game of dressing up - which is how my eldest ended up here.'

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Matthew Town secured Gold in the Under 25 category, bagging him Olympus Pen camera gear.

Almost 800 photographers entered this year's contest which was judged by a panel that included Roger Tooth, head of Photography at the Guardian.
