In a nutshell

I am a Sky customer have been for a year contract is up in 1 weeks time,Ive just been sent a Virgin Sky Switcher deal which is a average deal

Half price Full package for 6 months

Half price Sky sports collection 6 months

1 free tivo hd box free installation 2 in total

But contact is 18 months ,Hence locked in full virgin prices for a year.

Just phones sky saying i would like an extra box ,they said yes but you have to pay £2.50 a month for the privelage. So sky have added to my total cost instaed of reducing.

I then asked if I could have half price sky for 6 months as People I know when cancelling have got this and friends and family discounts come into this bracket, The bloke said Cannot do that for you sir???????

I then said cancel it them my son .............Not a problem sir....the CUNT


How do you thrash out a good deal in todays harsh climate?????

You shouldn't have asked for the free half price. They know you only called to get the discount. You should have just said you really like Sky but can't afford it any more and would like to leave. They should then offer you something to stay.

I've found the softly softly approach works best with a hint of a sob story thrown in is best. You should always let them lead with the deals and then negotiate a bit extra.

I am getting a VU+ box anyway in September so rang them to cancel they didn't off owt brilliant got £10 off my bill till whenever I cancel not bad I guess - worth a phone call thanks

It's 30 days to cancel, they will call you back in a week or so anyway asking why you're leaving, when they do just say you cannot afford it, they will then offer you a deal.

Once cancelled after a few weeks, they will call you offering deals such as 3 months free or half price for 12 months; and they find the word 'no' as a challenge. Took over 6 months for them to stop calling us, and we only had the basic package!

If you are relying on a linux satellite receiver and CS to save money you will be disappointed. I find it hard to believe someone will let you cane their sky card in exchange for very little. I, for certain, wouldn't let it go, and I don't know many peers that would. I suggest that you pay for the Sky World pack and use it all you want. But get a cheaper foreign satellite deal for the sport.

It's 30 days to cancel, they will call you back in a week or so anyway asking why you're leaving, when they do just say you cannot afford it, they will then offer you a deal.

Anyway, call Sky back (usual number) and when you get through to customer services ask for the cancelation team, they can do quite a few things that the normal customer services rep cannot like offer 6 even 12 months half price package.

Its only a phone call and nothing lost.

Big mistake to ask for a discount . Always go through with cancellations no matter what and even If they cancel you , ya got 30 days to call them up and stop that from happening . Or just hang up mid call ( phone battery died :-) ) then call again and get another advisor .
