Love to see a video of one of these FC40's in action(also video of the camera view), was tempted for the phantom 2 but couldn't justify the money, but for this FC40 I can buy without worry about the mrs

Quite a few FC40 vids on YouTube mate. It's watching these that's made me plump for it. Not seen anything as dramatic as the Vision one's in terms of landscape, but there's some good altitude ones. 720p camera looks a-ok to me.
Just had it out in back garden again and it's pretty dark looks superb. uploading video to youtube i'll post it soon.
Not great but looks cool at night, don't have a sd card to stick in the on board camera yet.

Had a bit of a scare with mine this morning, I took it to work started it up in the car park and took it up about 150 foot had a bit of a fly about and lost control of it, it shot off out of sight like a bullet I jumped in the van and chased after it got a few hundred yard up the road and it was making its way back to the car park lol. by the time I got back to the car park it was hovering above and just about to start to land. fucking shit myself :/

Bwahaha.. At least you got it set up right to come home.
Had a bit of a scare myself in the back garden. Fucking thing came at me like a warrior. Nearly chopped my bastard finger off.
Do some reading on "fly away's" mate, they seem far too common, especially when flying in built up areas with plenty of wireless interference, try to stay away from power lines, pylons etc when flying. I do regular tests on mine too to make sure the "return home" works when battery is at about 20% so if it doesn't work it won't go too far (as fail safe battery land is at 15%). Also look I to investing into a GPS tracker, I have a fi-li-fi velcro'd to the top of mine, which again I test with every flight. For the sake of £70 it's worth it when I'm flying £1500's worth of equipment.

Ive been so busy latelyy that ive hardly been on DF much, just not had the time, I'll be honest ive been into Multi-Rotors for a bit but nbever even thought to ask on here if anyone was into it. I have a TBS discovery with Naza V2 etc that ive actually just agreed to sell to a mate, I also have a DJi450 with Naza and GPS, currently runnning a modded Turnigy 9X Tx and have recently fitted the FR-Sky II Module and FR8 II Rx, the range is outstanding on it. Not exactly had the weather recently to clip my gopro on but it seems the spring is now upon us managed to get a couple of days out with it, filmed my local Church recently and also was working in Anglesey last week down a Cemaes Bay so took it with me and did a bit of filming over the bay there as I was staying right on it, could literally fly from my deck. Got a Tarot 2D 2 axis Gimble on order but its taking ages from china. Until then lots of stabilization in Sony Vegas and a hefty crop to lose the props haha.
Currently saving to build my carbon Tarot Hex heavy lift unit.
P.S. If anyone wants any help with Naza setups, Prop advice, battery advice or anything like that give us a shout ive been messing for a fair while now

Ooh perhaps you can elp me out, I'm in the process of building a hexa based on a tarot FY680. I've got the frame, some 30A afro ESC's, APM2.6 on it's way, a 9xr and a 439Mhz tx/rx with telemetry all sorted, I'm still just undecided on props + motors atm. I'm swaying towards the sunnysky 690kv's atm, any other opinions?

Sunnskys are nice, but if you're gonna run a slow fly large prop and a run a 4s then you'll have to watch the cooling on them. Personally with a heavy payload I have tried 8" right up to 11.5" and I found the best Happy medium with a 9" graupner. Motors stay that bit cooler and they are really smooth (still require balancing but very little). Also you can still run your 3s lipos with this setup no problem. I do like the tiger motors to be honest but they are expensive, on my 450 I'm currently running turnigy 1100kv with my all up weight at moment which includes carbon fibre landing gear, switched lights and go pro with 3s nans tech with the 9 inch graupner I can get a flight time of 12 mins max before forced landing.
what module and rx did you go for and why?
_Belial (10th March 2014)
I'm surprised you're getting that long of a flight time out of a 1100kv, i put motors that powerful into eCalc and it was showing about 6-7 minutes each time?
I went for the Hawkeye module and rx in the end

I went for those because the range seems much better than the 2.4Ghz one and less interferance, also I can mod the 9xr so that I can send telemetry back to it and display it on the screen, a mate of mine has done this with the same modules.

Little bit shaky to begin with but not bad for a first go. Got some good height on it.
