Default Sky broadband unlimited speed issue?

I've noticed on here of you guys are getting download speeds of 7mb/s +

I'm only pulling 1.4mb/s through sabnzbd, I'm signed up with news hostings unlimited package. Currently with sky unlimited if that helps.

I've attached some images of the speed tests I'm getting back. Ran these through my iPad, not my laptop. I'll do some more tests through my laptop later.

Just wanted to check there isn't anything obvious I'm doing wrong to get the 'low' speeds I'm getting, and do you think there is a fault on my line?

    Cheers

Your router is only connected at 14Mbps mate which would work out at around 1.5MB/sec anyway from that pic?

If it's one of the older Sky routers you might be able to put on of the DGTeam firmwares onto it - that would let you tweak it to get a slightly faster connection, although it might not be quite as stable.

If you had a perfect short connection to the exchange you'd still only get say 2MB/sec on ADSL - if you're wanting quicker you really need one of the Virgin offerings or one of the fibre to the cabinet offerings like Sky Fibre or BTInfinity to be honest?

It should say on the label on the other side lol.

Also run this test, its fairly accurate -

    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome

If it says you can get 20 or 24 then ring sky and get them to change your profile.

all is says on the label is that it is a sagem, no other numbers. will run that test now :-) let you know what i get

edit: "There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line", strange as i entered the number correctly.

ah well nevermind, it downloads films etc fast enough for me. just being greedy wanting more speed

Sadly fibre optic is yet to hit norwich yet...
