Info Rovio Announces ‘Bad Piggies’ For iOS, Android And Mac, Landing On September 27 Witho

If you’ve even the remotest insight into the mobile app and gaming sphere, you’ll undoubtedly have stumbled across Angry Birds on a number of occasions. In fact, you wouldn’t even have needed to pick up a smartphone or slab to have encountered the immensely-popular title, and the fact it can be played in Chrome, on Facebook, Windows or Mac suggests nobody has managed to avoid those pesky multicolored poultry.

Unlike other game developers, creators Rovio haven’t really delved beyond the billion dollar franchise, and considering one can purchase all manner of peripherals and merchandise – from speaker docks to plush toys – its little wonder Rovio hasn’t been in much of a rush to add to its gaming roster. Amazing Alex launched a couple of months ago, and although no title is likely to eclipse Angry Birds, it was a rather unspectacular, run-of-the-mill physics game, yielding reasonable download numbers.

In its latest attempt to take over the App and Google Play Stores, Rovio has announced "Bad Piggies," which was teased just yesterday, a title which will be based around the snorting green swines we all love to hate in Angry Birds. If you’ve played Angry Birds – scratch that, we’ve all played it – you’ll be more than aware of how annoying the booger-colored pigs can be. You think you’ve cracked it – with three stars no less – but despite falling down and rolling around with several bruises, one solitary, snarling pig is left to ruin things for you.

Rovio has been coy with regards to exactly how the new title will work, although we strongly suspect the pigs will be bringing more harm to their avian counterparts. One has to wonder, however, whether the birds vs. pigs format is becoming a little tired. Given how little we currently know of the title, it wouldn’t be fair to write Bad Piggies off, although spin-offs have a habit of failing, and at best, only managing to yield a fraction of the excitement.

Bad Piggies will launch on Sept. 27th for Android, iOS and Mac, although don’t be surprised to see the Android iteration pushed back. PC, Windows 8 and Windows Phone versions will be released shortly after, and don’t worry, there won’t be a slingshot in sight!
