Unable to run games downloaded from Xbox Live

Hi guys.
I bought an original Xbox game (Sid Meier's Pirates) from the marketplace tonight, and it will not run it.
Gives the message ' The game couldn't be started. Try downloading again.'
I have tried this with no effect.
It also won't run GTA:San Andreas that I bought ages ago that used to work.

After a bit of searching it looks like it;s due to the non-standard HDD that I upgraded with.
Have MS patched it, and is there any way round it?

My console is unmodified in any other way, just that I swapped the HDD.
Bloody annoyed that an original game that I bought won't work.

You might be missing the files for the backwoods comparability I might be wrong but I think they are on 1 of the partitions.

try signing out of live then running them, some old xbox one games wont run while signed into live.

It was like Rids said, files missing from Partition 2.
Have restored them and working fine now.
