Hardest thing in the world is saying goodbye to the people you love. Comes around every month when I have to go back offshore. Tears you up inside every time no matter how fucking hard you try to keep it bottled up. Just left the missus in tears as she went off to walk, leaving me to wait for my pickup to go to the ship.

For me one week off a month would be great. No screaming child, messy house, 6am weekend starts, moody missus etc.. Anymore than that and amnesia starts to kick in and I begin missing them both.

4 weeks off , 4 weeks on is ok, and once your back on board and in a routine its fine, it's just that initial saying goodbye. Hurts like hell.

Got 3 weeks at sea, then 1 week of dry dock in hull should be fun!
