Vauxhall Astra J 60 Plate Power Steering Problems Advice Please

Hi as title states i have here a Astra 2010 60reg 1.6sri which has no power steering. The dashboard displays "service stabilitrak" and "service power steering"
One day the power steering worked fine then stopped then started working again and now it doesnt work at all.
We replaced the steering rack for identical rack from same year ... still the same so we removed it and fitted the original rack.
The car had an airbag kit fitted and airbag ecu sdm cleared and whole car reset.
No warning lights on dash just those 2 messages about power steering and if scanned comes up with steering angle sensor calibration undone.
So anyone in the know would this steering angle sensor being reset to 0 stop the power steering from working and just needs a simple dose of gds2/mdi to fix it?
I have access to a mdi so any help info appriciated.

I did try to join Mhh auto but seems invitation codes are needed so hence my post here although its been a long time digital-forums always feels like home.

Hi unfortunately due to the car being a Cat D the warranty is void. Although i did have it to the local dealer who couldnt fix it and said it needed investigating?

The steering angle sensor can be calibrated with the MDI and GDS2, and this would account for the stabillity message. Not sure if it would it would have any bearing on the power steering, but if you have access to the equipment just give it a go.

Cheers Philo I managed to borrow the MDI last night but now need a laptop with XP hopefully find one today and post results.

I have GDS2 running in Windows 7 but I have to run it in Windows XP Mode, which is a free download.

Finally got there in the end with a dose of gds2 everything programmed up successfully and now works fine. I could only use win xp as the driver for xvci gm mdi is for xp only.
