Sundry Borderlands 2 DLC rumours are doing the rounds on yonder fair and bountiful internet. The game has one slab of DLC content already announced - the Mechromancer class, sadly stigmatised as an act of craven misogyny following certain remarks by lead designer John Hemingway.
A future pack may offer 10 additional hours of gameplay, plus the chance to ride new vehicles that aren't worlds away from those of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. "I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff," Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford told audiences at the developer's Community Day (via GameInformer) earlier this week. "I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."
Just as well he specified the vehicles, not the movie as a whole - Return of the Jedi isn't all that fondly remembered, though the whole Ewok thing seems positively respectable alongside Jar Jar Binks.
There are at least four Borderlands 2 DLC packs planned for release by June 2013, and you can scoop the lot for the price of three packs via the Borderlands 2 Season Pass, which costs 2400 MP.
Yesterday, dashing web-rodent Supperannuation uncovered a bunch of CVs from current and former employees at The Workshop which suggest the Sorcery developer is crafting one of those packs. The project in question is codenamed "Torgue", also the name of Borderlands 2 gun manufacturer. One Workshop designer mentions the "Unannounced" "Expansion of a Highly Successful Triple-A FPS". Apparently, it's over 10 hours long.
The Mechromancer pack will be available on 16th October, and will cost 800 MP. Read more about how Gearbox has approached the sticky issues of sex and gender in this Borderlands 2 interview. Axton used to be bisexual, you know.
