Well, some may have read recently that after subscribing to Sky since the day they first went from free to air (circa 1990) and having paid full price at all times since then, I recently tried to get some kind of deal out of them by telling them I wanted to cancel to save money.....they offered me a discount of 50p per month, which I politely declined and went through with cancelling my subscription...... I am some £65 pound a month better off now.
Anyway, since I cancelled (contract notice period expired Mid August), I surprisingly haven't really heard much from them.....until today....when the first letter arrived from them. They are offering me 75% discount for 12 months, and £50 credit in my account.
I won't be taking up their offer, even though I consider it to be a very good one....but thought it might be of interest to anyone else considering cancelling to save a bit of money. This is what you can expect to be offered after just 1 month without service.

Yep, I cancelled last June, have had the 75% off offer through the post 3 times now, very good deal.

My old man cancelled in Oct 2011. Went to take out new deal with a family and friends code and they said he can't do it, as it's been less than 12 months since he left. He said sod it then.

Then took them up on the £75 deal, pretty good.

Just ring them and tell them you have had an offer through the post. I'm sure Tronads will supply you with the relevant details required (phone number, offer details, offer code, etc)

I've cancelled my subscription, only got a couple of days left before it goes off & not had any offers either lol.
Do you know if I will still be able to use the box just to watch the free channels such as BBC1, 2 & ITV etc.... ?

The sky box I'm using now is an old sky+ box, but I have been given a skyHD box - this has a fault & one of the tuners do not work - this will soon be no problem for me as I won't be able to record anything on it, so will I be able to use the HD box so I can watch more freeview HD channels ?

Yep, I have a hd box but no hd sub and can view all the FTA HD channels

I've just called them to disconnect. They offered me 25% off to stay, bringing my bill down to just over £50. Told them to leave it. Hopefully they'll ring back with a better offer or I'll just wait for one of the $ky employee codes to come out. They always do them around Christmas.

I don't know, the girl I spoke to was really nice (sounded well fit) and I was nice to her. She tried her utmost to try and keep my custom but 25% is jack shit to me.

You should tell them that you've read about people getting 25% off or even 75% and that you'd happily sign up to a 12 month contract if you got offered the same deal. I did this years ago and got some free stuff, the guy was happy I was straight to the point with him as it saved him time.

I cancelled last November, was paying £35 a month in the half price deal (full package plus HD etc). They wanted me to pay full price so I cancelled. It all went through, and I got cut off on the day. Within an hour of it cutting off I had a phone call from them offering me the half price package again for 12 months, which is what i'm on now.

Maybe I just didnt sound convincing and she thought I wasnt going to cancel...I was perfectly pleasant to the operator though....I always am.

Ive just phoned to cancel, got offered nowt... so ill wait and see. Just out of interest, for them to switch off my card, the box needs a active sat feed connected. If not will the card stay on, untill the rights need updating?

thats correct but without a satallite feed the card/box is useless.

Nope dont work like that M8 once its deactivated at Sky's end thats it no programs, no recordings and no recording function.
