tomtom ONE stuck on start screen

been trying to fix this for my brother, send him info from here:

but he still cannot fix it, he's saying that the pc won't 'see' the unit so he cannot flash or restore it..
any ideas before I go and pck it up to try and fix?

Only think I can think of trying is to do a hard re-set - usually this means keeping the re-set button pressed in for @ 30 seconds.

thanks Russ, think he said he's tried that but being my brother that could mean anything! I'll get hold of it..
