    Hello all,

theres a Ethernet cable run up stairs but looking for wireless.

anyone have suggestions what's needed, some sort of adaptor for upstairs?

Homeplugs/powerline with wireless AP on the other end so you have an upstairs and downstairs WAP?

Pass. Not got a clue.... There's an Ethernet cable up stairs already but after wifi. There's a TP link downstairs which is run to a neighbours that they share for Internet tv.

downstairs then halfway up the stairs is fine, then as soon as you reach the top it's 1 bar and then as soon as you enter the bedroom it's gone.

wonder if Cyprus has the same problem at his gaff

If the eithernet cable has internet out of the end buy a cheap wifi router and plug it in upstairs to give you wifi there.

I mentioned this but he seems to think it won't work?
says there's an adaptor you can get.

internet is working via Ethernet cable as you can you use a laptop up there.

Theres so much going on in the house, in the living room it's hooked up for tv over the net, then he's got the TP link in the kitchen for the neighbour for there net tv.

surely sticking a router up there will solve it tho

Hiya mate, I'm in a similar position and am about to buy this unit from Devolo to pipe a signal upstairs.

My question is, can I have the same SSID as my router downstairs, so if I'm on my iPad and walk upstairs it will automatically switch to the stronger signal coming from the Devolo?

    Cheers

I have 2 HH3's from BT setup like this in my concrete house. Both have the same SSID and passwords and are setup to the same network, so access all round. Works a treat.

    All done using this -
    http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/wireless/hh3link.html

Will only disconnect and reconnect if the signal drops completely, but Wireless N everywhere in my place is bliss!

Some information might be different on other Routers, but the logic is still the same.

It CAN be done, I only done it yesterday.

Can someone copy paste the info from that site? I used to have two routers but with different names so I had to connect manually to the strongest one. Be good to have to routers on the same network.

ive setup wireless cameras around the house recording to a pc in the attic, wireless was barely 1 bar or dropped, so bought a 16db usb wireless aerial and boom full bars.

could be worth a shot for £15

GTI - I have setup homeplugs then connected the remote plug to a DD-WRT router with same SSID, security type and password and it works. That should be the same setup as you have planned but yours is a bit neater.

    Thanks to evilsatan

Default No wifi upstairs in concrete house

I went from home plugs to AirPort Extreme and airport expresses.
The home hub takes the broadband in and the extreme acts as a bridge. The expresses then extend the wifi all on the same SSID.

    Works very very well
