My central heating is on all the time, regardless of whether it's on or not. They only way to switch it off is to turn all the radiators off using their thermostats. Any idea why? A mate mentioned it might be a knackered valve. Thanks.

It could be a faulty programmer?? Is it a combi?

What happens when you turn thermostat down?

Have u an external programmer, or is it internal? To check if it's the programmer, disconnect it from inside the boiler. How handy r you to attempt this. If u r useless then don't do this. Seek professional help m8. Make/model of boiler?

It's an external programmer and the boiler is a Potterton performance 28i.

If it was me, I would disconect the external programmer. Remove the front of the programmer from the wall, see if the.boiler goes off.
Got the manual? Look at the wireing for the programmer, it will show you which ones to remove. Just a couple of options.

Do you have a single thermostat to control all the rads. It could be knackered. You will need to check it with a meter. If the switch is stuck closed this will cause the rads to be on all the time unless your programmer is overriding it.
