    Default 3dTV how to playback.

    How do,

I have a 3DTV about to be delivered.
How do i play back movies in 3d, i have a PS3 that i can connect to it but no idea what to do...

Can i just download 3d versions of movies and the ps3 and TV will take care of the rest or do i have to do something special...?

    Thanks

Play them on your ps3 or through the TV media player with a HDD then put your tv in to side by side mode 3d and it should be fine (refer to manual)

Most 3D tvs have a built in media player....just download 3D SBS rips and put on a USB stick or external harddrive....the TV will normally play it from there.

The PS3 won't play MKV's so you better hope the TV has a media player or you'll be doing a lot of converting to AVCHD's or you can stream them.

    Getting there...

Got the TV in and setup, routed all the cables through the loft and via the airing cupboard so it is all tidy...

FINALLY got it all on V+ box connected plays fine.
Put a 3d copy of Happy potter on a USB HDD and go to the USB menu select movie......

    AND....

    FUCK ALL....
Does not show a message or anything, the USB drive is powered up and spinning. I will try a USB stick later to make sure it is not voltage but the instructions state that USB drive and stick will work.

Annoying thing is that the USB stot is on the back and you cannot put a usb stick straight into it so i will have to plug an extension into it first...

    I just spotted that....
I will check the HDD format as that would make sense.
It was late and i was tired so i did not check it.

    No 3d from USB.
    SUCKS...

Not sure if i am bothered or not.
It would be nice have 3d but i know the novelty will wear off.

So if no 3d from usb what are the other options.
PS3 with the HDD plugged in with TV in SBS mode..?
I Also have a Raspberry Pi that i still have to configure but it looks like that might be able to do it.

    Why is nothing simple...

I watch 3d via XBMC on a Revo but I also have PS3 Media Server setup on my Windows Home Server and this works fine via my PS3.

ah, thanks for that Mr_C and everyone else.
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server at home that i use for all my storage, i have been streaming to an ATV for ages now and it works really well. So it looks like i can just leave it as it is and just change the mode on the TV to play it....

But the apple TV is in the front room and the 3dtv is in the boudoir so i will try the PS3 and then the Pi first as long as i have time......

Got my operation on the 26th and i will be bed bound for about a month then house bound to 2 more months so i will have plenty of time.. lol

    Default 3dTV how to playback.

I've tried 3D SBS using xbmc on my JB ATB2 on my Sony Bravia 3D TV and there are shadows, I assume, from the overlay. It makes it completely unwatchable for me unfortunately.

Are there any other settings I can tweak on xbmc to make it watchable? Playback on the Sony 3D blu ray player is flawless as I'd expect.
