    Wanker road rage driver

i was cycling with my daughter today on our pushbikes and at one stage for about 15 seconds i was riding 2 abreast with her as we approached a mini roundabout.

all i could hear was a car behind me pressing his horn like mad. i told my daughter to ignore it and don't look back just look where your going and as we went over the roundabout and had to stop at the lights this gezzer and is not so fit missus was screaming abuse about how they were going 20 mph on a 30 road and how i would kill someone.

seems to me they were in a rush and has he pulled up to the side of me he was having a proper little girly fit.

i remained calm and said there is no law that says you can not ride 2 abreast but at the most for saftey reasons i rode 2 abreast over the mini mini very small roundabout to learn my daughter awarness of riding through a roundabout.
the lights were on red anyway after the roundabout and at the most he drove for 15 secs at 20mph.

poor sod. think he told me fuck off more times than my ex missus and thats got be a record.

so you my sir in the blue car and ugly missus wins my your a complete wanker award for the week.

This is the reason so menu bike riders use helmet cams now. Not so you can show a copper but so you can post it on face book and all take the piss till he gets tagged in it

the highway code says no more than 2 abreast so you was quite within your rights to do so.

How about a positive LSD story? Would you like to see a positive LSD story on the news to hear what's it all about, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting just once?

I think you are selectively quoting the highway code. The actual quote is....

"never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends"

    Thanks to MsDG

Beat me to it MsDG, I'm forever having to make potentially dangerous moves because cyclists with very expensive bikes and attire haven't got a clue how to use the road.

Should we ask you to actually make your take on this known?
If I'm reading you right you are implying that should implies that 'should' somehow negates the word 'never'.

Must is backed up by law, whilst should is advice.

Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts to establish liability. This includes rules which use advisory wording such as ‘should/should not’ or ‘do/do not’.

The Road Traffic Act 1988 says:
A failure on the part of a person to observe a provision of the Highway Code shall not of itself render that person liable to criminal proceedings of any kind but any such failure may in any proceedings (whether civil or criminal, and including proceedings for an offence under the Traffic Acts, the [1981 c. 14.] Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 or sections 18 to 23 of the [1985 c. 67.] Transport Act 1985) be relied upon by any party to the proceedings as tending to establish or negative any liability which is in question in those proceedings.

'Never' has one meaning only, the rest is just semantics, you are talking nonsense because the relevant word in the sentence is 'never'. Beyond that in this case the road conditions and age of child are the most important factors since roundabout techniques are best taught in an 'off road' situation.
