Default Dual boot using presaved image?

Im wondering what you guys have used to set up a dual boot system. I use a laptop as a music workstation & have a backup image of win7 with all my audio settings. Ive got a 500gb drive ordered and want to partition it (havent made my mind up yet how much i want to allocated to win8 yet!). my backup was made using acronis. Can i load the image onto a new partition or do i have to do the whole lot from scratch? & any tips on what to use to partition? cheers.

    Hiya fella,

Im running a Acer W500 tablet as a Win 8 and Droid x86 Dual boot, I installed Win 8 1st and then found a disro I liked, loaded it on a USB and started.

Walked through like a standard Linux install (Very basic, easy and simple)

As part of this it added the Grub loader and this auto detected Windows and gave me options on what id like to do.

It really was painless to do, if in any doubt give it all a whirl in a VM 1st so you can see what it will look like.

The tablet only has 32gig as a total so to demo I even went down the route of installing the distro to the USB stick before jumping in and adding it too the hard disk.

Hope this helps, if you want anymore specifics let me know

Win xp installed first then partitioned it. Installed win8 and it did the dual boot loader for you. Seems stable so far btw.

Also look at Virtual Machines. I have my Windows 7 PC with an OSX VM and will add a Windows 8 VM too. You can take snapshots which is cool too when it comes to restoring.

Here is a guide, I didn't use this guide so see how you go:
    http://www.ihackintosh.com/2012/07/i...ion-in-vmware/

Just enable virtualization support for your intel CPU in the BIOS.
