    Help telescope with web cam

just been given a nice telescope, harier 15-60x80mm.
moon and stars look fantastic for an old telescope.
anyone used a ccd out of a web cam to capture moon and the like,
i have looked on the web with lots of people giving different advice.
anyone here had a go & with what results & whats the best webcam?
    i have at hand a ms life cam 1000,logitech 290 hd & 190.
i know you have to take the lense of the web cam to do it.

I have,it was with a very old webcam though,it was just to see if I could take pictures etc with it.These are just some of the shots I took with it.Some have used the xbox live cam with good results too. There's a good thread here albeit 50 odd pages long:http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/13...x#entry1723951

You need to be image stacking with a web cam, Mine has a snout which fits onto the eyepiece receptacle. Since you are using the webcam as an eyepiece focus can be a issue but mine was designed for the job, only a cheapo but you can spend thousands on them.. .
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

For image stacking he's going to need a scope that tracks the object over a period of time if you want good results, this is were it starts to get expensive!!

One of mine tracks buts its not needed, provided you keep the object in the lens there is plenty of time and the software does all the compensating. A tracking scope from the likes of Meade can be had for £3-400...
A webcam without stacking is nowhere near high enough res.
