Corned Beef Hash recipe??

My old gran used to make a massive pot of this to feed us all as kids. I've never had it since, but really fancy some.

What's the best recipe and ingredients?

I don't want pastry or dumplings in it.

What have you got DF? Looking to make around 10 large servings of this for over winter.

Do make this sometimes, my little boy loves it! I Don't do anything fancy with it really.

Fry up a chopped onion until crispy,
Peel & chop into roast potatoe size pieces of potatoe and boil untill soft enough to mash (10mins ish),
open can of corned beef and chop into cubes,
Potatoes into a large bowl and mash with some butter, salt and pepper, (maybe some milk or cream too if you want)
Chuck in the fried onion,
chuck in the corned beef cubes,
Mash all together,
Grate some nice cheese and sprinkle over the top and grill untill the cheese melts and bubbles.

Great served with a fried egg and baked beans.

I sometimes par boil then fry off potatoes(small chunks) instead of mash.
I still slightly mash it all together at end tho..
Personally gotta have Worcester Sauce all over it....

Great shout guys, I have memories of eating almost from like a stew in a big pot.

Pepper and Worcester sauce a must, I seem to remember cornflower and gravy browning being used as well.

yeah more like a stew up north here, all in one large soup pan job

sliced pots, onion, carrot,stock,Worcester sauce,oxo cube, corned beef

lashings of white bread to mop it all up

I like the dry hash like you get in America - best one I have had was in vegas for breakfast with a cpl fried eggs on top - fucking awesome

I usually make a stew type of hash and do my potatoes in with it cut into small cubes - fried egg and loads of tabasco on top lovely winter dish

i do a version of this but layered (bit like a shepherds pie) corned beef, onions and beans on the bottom layer, mash on top, bit of grated cheese on top of that, then 25 mins in the oven. the kids love it.

I make mine the same way my dad did,
make a massive pan of buttery mash potato,
get your corned beef cut it in four add to boiling water so the fat all melts off it,
drain the water then add the very soft and tender meat to the mash and mash together,
then heap a massive amount on a plate, pour Heinz baked beans all over one side and then pour HP brown sauce all over.
Fucking amazing and cause youve made loads you can re-heat the rest the folling day and it still takes awesome.

The basic stew type one I do.
Chop up a load of spuds in to cubes, some big some smaller the smaller ones will thicken it up but if you want it more watery leave dont cut them up too small about 2cm cubes
2 oxo cubes
1 big tin of corned beef or 2 of the smaller ones all in a pan and cover it with water and just boil the hell out of it with some salt.

Add diced onion and sliced carrots if you want.

I like it boiled and then boiled again later so it thickens (great the following day as well) add what ever sauce you like worcester, ketchup, HP, tabasco and half a loaf of thick cut bread.
