Gutted about this. How long before we are cancelling our newsprovider accounts and signing up to services like netflix and lovefilm?

managed to log into nzb.su and got vip as well no prob 2 minutes ago
Just managed to sign up for NZB.su & VIP. The login page is now stating no more registrations... Guess their being bombarded at the mo.
I'm gutted. Surely the takedown request has been sent to more than just matrix though? I wouldn't be surprised if other indexers go the same way over the next couple of weeks.
Looks like I'll just have to sit tight and hope couchpotato/sickbeard/headphones get updated with more downloader options
Sad day indeed :-(

with the clampdown on sites like these it would be interesting to know what affect it will have on various industries, obviously the likes of Astraweb etc will be hit first with customers leaving, not geeks like us but Joe Bloggs who's mate down the pub showed him newzbin then Matrix who is now stuck for anything as they have no idea where these files come from in the first place. If customers drop off from these will the services they provide be economical anymore? There must be a knock on effect elsewhere as well, like Hard Drive sales, Flash Drives, DVDR's etc, What about media players? lets face it the likes of the popcorn hour, the WDTV live etc were all developed and aimed at illegal downloaders. Im not saying this is bad enough for companys to go under but the likes of Western Digital may well see a steep drop in sales of their External Drives and Media players. Time will tell if the scene can gain some momentum and find new avenues then it might not be so bad.

One of the lads at work has already text me asking if it means he should shut his astraweb account lol
I'm real interested in the nzbs.su site. It supports couchpotato and headphones and being Russian I guess they don't give a shit about copyright. Remember that this is a country where piracy is so rife that the movie industry releases it's films earlier so that everyone's not already seen it by the time it comes out... And gave rise to the whole R5 scene

This is a real shame but it was only a matter of time with the way things have been going recently.
Unfortunately I don't think the disappearance of the Matrix sites will be enough to keep the DMCA trolls at bay for very long, and I don't want to put any serious thought into what will be next for my beloved Usenet. Probably 11 years of bliss and its all been going tits up recently.
I wouldn't advise pumping money into a new membership elsewhere yet, I'd let the dust settle for a little while and stick with free alternatives.
I still blame fucking torrents and Gnutella for it all, that's when it became mainstream and every man and his dog was at it, selling shitty copies to everyone. Other people will probably say it goes back further than that. I just don't want to end up queueing on irc for days on end like it was once upon a time.
Bring back FXP!!
