It's always been the way, even back in the FTP and FXP days you couldn't keep them out unless it was a VERY closed forum. I've been saying for years that the scene needs to go back underground where it belongs. It's eliminates the shit and keep the quality stuff to a select few and their close friends. The more you put back into the scene, the more you got out, and you got the new new stuff quicker and faster than anyone else.

To be honest, I might go back to private trackers. Except this time rent myself a seedbox, so I don't have to worry about ratio. Cost about the same as usenet providers anyway.
So what are the alternatives now that nzb matrix is gone? I used nzb matrix solely :-(

A very sad day in deed!
Having looked at some of the sites mentioned in this thread, can the people who are members on these other sites confirm whether there is chatter on their boards about why they have shut the gates for new registrations? Is it due to a spike in new members, or do they run a few months closed and then a week open to recycle boards members, or are they pony'ing their load because of some of the other sites shutting up shop?
I'll apologise in advance but this is something I feel very strongly about...I don't intentionally mean to tread on anyone's toes when I say this but trackers / torrents are not the answer. The reason that usenet has the likes of the MPAA and DMCA sniffering around it is because average joe downloads of stuff went into overload when Gnutella started. Gnutella was the first peer to peer network that evolved into torrents and imo is the reason we are in this situation today. The net needs to be exorcised Linda fuking Blair style of the horrible disease that is Torrents.

No need to apologise. You're entitled to your opinion.
But I like to think that I'm not your 'average Joe'. I don't use and never have used the likes of Gnutella, Kazzaa, Pirate Bay or any other of that public shat that does indeed infest the internet with bad files and bad publicity. In fact I started my downloading fun using FXP like a lot of old school folk here did also I'm sure.
Search through my old posts and you'll see me defending torrents in the past, so I won't spout it too much here again. But decent PRIVATE (and I mean private) sites have done me and others very well in the past and cannot even remotely be compared to the places like I've just listed and similar. And your Demonoids and your Torrent Leeches are NOT private by any means, they're just members only. Not the same thing at all.
They're locked down tighter than a gnat's chuff and two in particular that I use have been going for 10 years. If you don't like torrents, fair do's. But don't write the protocol off because of some of the shitty sites and stupid people that use it.
typical, would happen the night before new homeland and dexter ;-)

Well overnight, Sickbeard has grabbed for me The Amazing Race, Family Guy, Homeland and Misfits. All came from Sickbeard Index, which seems to still be running.
