    Default PSU fan replacement

Bought an Antec 620 HCG PSU from ebay a month or so ago, and unfortunatley the fan is starting to rattle like mad, and its doing my head in.

I have tried oiling the bearing a couple of times, which gives a couple of days peace.

I have read about replacing the PSU fan, but some are having problems getting the fan to start etc, and I was wondering if anyone with a bit of experience could offer some advice before I go ahead and try.

I know that it is a 2 wire fan, and I have attached a pic of the sticker on it.

    Any help appreciated

    thanks

Should just be a simple 12v Fan solder transplant jobby. Failing to get the Fan to start means their using the wrong Fan or the Fan's knackered.

These Fans spin up fine when hooked up to a 9v Battery to test.
So long as 12v is being feed to it, it'll work.

Not much to really go wrong, simple case of 2 wires to a motor.

Is it possible to buy PSU fans, or is it just a 135mm case fan I have to find and hope that the mounting points are the same ?

Depends. Usually PSU Fans are 2 pin and soldered directly to the PCB.
You should check inside your PSU before ordering.

A 2 pin 135mm Case Fan should do the trick, but if that is the size, you might have problems finding a replacement.
    Regular sizes are 90mm, 120mm and 140mm.

Might be an idea to get one out of a cheapy PSU instead.

It is definitely 2 pin, and is not soldered to the board.

Based on that, it is defintely 135mm

You might have luck with that ebay listing. I think what some bulk sellers do is increase the price on their multiple item listings when they run out of stock then put it back down when they get more stock in, saving them from having to start a new listing.

surely it would be simpler and easier to just buy a new psu, for half the price of that fan though ?
