I'm trying to download something from a website which gives .torrent links - it's massive at 31.9Gb
I started once and it was doing it's thing (when my laptop was turned on) for a couple of days (at work and at home) when it decided to stop working. Had a quick look and the tracker gave a message hinting I got booted for not sharing (message was in french as the site is french). Then tried the same .torrent on a fresh windows install on the same laptop with same problem.
Then I set another account up and managed to kick off the download. This time I thought I had better share the file. Worked for one evening last night, took the lappie to work and got the same error. This time my ratio was 0.076
So now I'm wondering how on earth I can complete this download without getting myself blacklisted for life from the site.
Ideas I'm thinking of:
My home and work ip's were on a list of users who had abused the service which let the forum admins quickly spot I had returned.
My username gave away the fact I was probably only interested in the one file I was downloading, which is the same as the "previous user"
My ratio is shit - maybe they are expecting people to start out with smaller files and get a good ratio on them before trying anything bigger,
or even on a similar line of thought, I need to throttle my download to something silly to ensure I maintain a decent ratio.
Also do I need to do this from a a fresh windows install?
Do I need to mess with/resintall bittorrent?
Am I being blocked by ip?
Or being blocked by any other unique identifier?
Anyone got any ideas - I really could do with this file and the quicker the better but I don't want to take chances and find I can never ever download it.
