Found it quite interesting although as you say 'a little ranty' which made me skip a few bits, always been of the opinion Windows 8 was aimed at a lightweight computer user and what he say's only confirms that.

If all you do on a Desktop PC is surf the net, buy a few things and post on forums and Facebook it's probably ideal but as he say's you will end up being forced to use it

Installed it in November and have never looked back. It does everything Windows 7 does, plus it has a very good App store with tons of free apps, has a nice start menu with interactive tiles and it boots in seconds.

Apart from having to learn where things have been moved to, I see no reason why anyone can really complain.

    Thanks to cyprus

Its windows 7 with a pretty frontend. Nice tip is to install classic shell which gives you back the old Start Menu and you pretty much have Windows 7 again.

My real worry is this is the first step to eliminating general purpose computers as we know them and replacing them with a machine that just runs office and a browser.

Looks like Linux then, with OS X increasingly morphing into iOS it'll be the only real OS left

Come on, a simple change of the Start menu has gotten your knickers in to such a twist? It's Windows 7 with a live tile start menu. If it's aimed at retards then I'm a king-fucking-mong.

Overcarl, there is no lost functionality so I think a better way to put it would be that they're looking to simplify the OS for people who like you say just want to boot up, open the internet and do some work. Whilst still keeping all the customisation options albeit hidden away.

I have had this installed for a few months and still find it a nightmare to use. New OS's are supposed to be easier to use than the previous. This aint and everything is hidden away.

the main problem is that it was designed for touch screen but most people using it seem to be using a Keyboard and Mouse combo and as such hate it, i would like to see what someone who has tested it out on a PC with M/K thinks of it when they have used it with the touchscreen

problem is that if you are doing REAL work on a PC and not just shopping/browsing etc. then you will need a keyboard and mouse which makes the OS harder to use so it seems to be a vicious circle
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

i played with windows 8 and took to it well, its now second nature to me and feels natural as did all the previous op systems after using them for a while. I did however get one of these a few weeka ago and its made it even better. http://www.trustedreviews.com/logite...ipheral_review

Actually he does get promotion that easily. The Original video highlights about a dozen serious flaws with windows which he obviously hasn't watched and thinks it is all about the start menu.

What makes me laugh is the amount of people who defend Windows 8 purely on the back of being able to log onto facebook, fuck around with fruit ninja and being able to wank off to a few porn video's. However, if you actually want to actually do any fucking work on a PC it is a nightmare.

Here's an idea. If you are one of those people who have windows 8 shining out of their backsides... why not use your brilliant version of metro media player to watch the cunting video and perhaps join in the conversation with some valid arguments that defend the points raised?
