Whine Going to the cinema, what a rip off

I've just been unfortunate enough to go to my local cinema with my nieces aged 9 and 4 to watch tinkerbell no less.
£20 admission and £14 for 2 small cokes and popcorn, £34 quid wtf, and to top it off as we're walking in to watch the movie I notice the cinema manager is an old friend of mine, hiya Gianni he says, you've not paid have you mate? I would have let you in for free if I'd seen you earlier grrrrrrrrrrr

Default Going to the cinema, what a rip off

It's a joke mate, I have an unlimited card which is £15 a month but end up losing out buying snacks etc.

Although the O2's sky screen is brilliant to watch stuff on.

The Mrs made me go at Xmas to watch the same film even though I had a 1080p rip at home. £28 admission plus £8 on popcorn and drink. It's silly money however I'm sure I read this year has been the best yet for cinemas.

I never buy consumables in the Cinema. Over-inflated prices for stuff you can get from the supermarket half the price.

At the same cinema if you go at 10 am it's only a pound to get in, if i ever go back it will be at that time, and with popcorn from the supermarket lol

    The film was great btw

By the time you factor in tickets, travel, couple of snacks, quick beer afterwards....you're looking at 50 notes. 50!!

That's the reason I have started streaming films at home for £4 a time, with only the occasional exception (Django unchained, The Hobbit etc) requiring a cinema visit.

I stopped going after quantum of solace not really been back since nearly 50 quid then for 2 peak time tickets for me and the missus and nachos+popcorn combos - 20 mins of repeated adverts about how theatre was better than crap cam copies followed by the entire film interrupted by babies crying, teenagers arsing around throwing shit and people with 10ml bladders in and out like fecking yoyos - complained to the manager on the way out and just got a shrug of the shoulders - only thing I've seen in cinemas since was the new star trek and we went off peak so it was much better but that was just to keep wifey happy - wouldn't bother me never to go to a cinema again

Last time I went to the Cinema, 35p bus ride Morley to Wakefield, £1 entry to Cannon Cinema 35p ride home, that's after moochin around the arndale centre for fanny like you do in your teens
Only in Britain….do we use the word “politics” to describe the process of Government. “Poli” in Latin meaning “many” and “tics” meaning “bloodsucking
    creatures”

I have cineworld unlimited, £15 a month and I am now premium so get 25% off all food and drink an no surplus for 3d. Problem is I go to the cinema once a month if that now, used to go 3 or more times a week!

Why is it not possible to go 90 mins without stuffing your face with food and drink? Here's an Idea... eat at home, go to the pictures, go home... I am sure you will survive 2 hours without eating or drinking.

Also, where else can you spend two hours somewhere (out) and it only costs £8 per person?

Was going to say the same, paying for popcorn and going for pizza hut are personal choices - guess times aren't hard enough for people to be more frugal.

Took the wife and kids to watch the hobbit, it cost 26 quid.

Weather permitting the local park is cheaper and whilst i agree about not having to stuff your face when you're at the cinema, it's hard to say no to a child wanting popcorn.

Its a rip off, rarely go but when I do its usually on an orange wednesday one buys the tickets the other buys the snacks normally from asda earlier in the day save a fortune doing it that way and you don't miss half the film on the toilet with only 500ml bottle of cherry coke to drink against the 3 gallon bucket they sell you for £5. i did try to take a tub ov ben and jerrys in once but it melted.

I remember going to the cinema at Whiteleys in Bayswater a good few years ago (I think it was UCI at the time) and people were getting searched to make sure they didn't bring snacks in. Fecking cheek I think, a few people were told they could dump their snacks or get a refund on their tickets. Not many dumped their snacks from what I remember.
How about a positive LSD story? Would you like to see a positive LSD story on the news to hear what's it all about, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting just once?

Why? The cinema manager is an old friend of yours. Armed with this new found knowledge you can go at any time for free. You can at least get your £34 worth over the next few years. If you go in for free 3,401 times it will have cost you less than 1p a visit. Now that's not bad is it? (">
