BBC News Hall pleads not guilty to charges

Mr Hall was charged with the offences in December

BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has pleaded not guilty to three charges of indecent assault.

The 83-year-old, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, entered his plea at Preston Magistrates' Court, who referred his case to the city's crown court.

He was charged in December following complaints to police about alleged incidents involving three girls aged between nine and 16.

Mr Hall was bailed ahead of his first appearance at crown court in April.

Lancashire Police said the offences were alleged to have been committed between 1974 and 1984.

Did anyone actually expect a signed confession ?

If it get's too uncomfortable for him he'll just pull the bad health card.

Broadcaster Stuart Hall has been charged with one offence of rape and 14 offences of indecent assault, Lancashire Police have said.
Mr Hall, 83, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, was arrested on Tuesday after attending a police station by appointment.
The rape is alleged to have been committed in 1976 against a 22-year-old woman.
The indecent assaults are alleged to have taken place between 1967 and 1986 on 10 girls aged between nine and 16.
Mr Hall has been bailed to appear before magistrates in Preston on 7 February.
A Lancashire Police statement said: "Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service an 83-year-old man has this evening been charged with one offence of rape and 14 offences of indecent assault."
Mr Hall pleaded not guilty to three charges of indecent assault when he appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court earlier this month. The court referred these charges to Preston Crown Court.
The broadcaster is best known for his sports reporting on BBC Radio 5 live - as well as his work on the 1970s TV show It's A Knockout.

Mr Hall has been a familiar face and voice in British broadcasting for half a century and became an OBE in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to broadcasting and charity.

Will be interesting to see how this developes now.

I wonder how long it will take for him to hide behind ill health.

Broadcaster Stuart Hall admits indecent assaults

Broadcaster Stuart Hall has admitted 14 charges of indecently assaulting girls as young as nine years old.

The 83-year-old from Wilmslow, Cheshire pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to the offences, involving 13 victims, which occurred between 1967 and 1985.

A further three charges of indecent assault and one of rape have been left to lie on the court file.

Outside the court earlier Hall's lawyer said he wished to apologise to his victims.

He added: "He is not a man easily moved to self pity but he is all too aware that his disgrace is complete."

Hall admitted the offences last month but they could not be revealed due to reporting restrictions.
