    Help iPod Touch repair

The youngest has drenched her 2nd gen iPod touch, it was in her bag when her bottle of pop leaked.
I opened it up and soaked up all the excess. I then covered it with bags of silica gel in the boiler room over the weekend.

If I plug the device in it will come on, and the battery appears to be charging. However as soon as I unplug it it goes off as if the battery is totally flat.

Do I just need to replace the battery or is it the board?
    Cheers.

It's very hard to tell as liquid can damage anything. Mobileman will have better insight than me though.

    Thanks to evilsatan

could be either, or dock or short from lcd or digi, only way is to check the parts individually

    Thanks to Mobileman

Thanks for the tips. I've pulled the screen away from the body but is still attached by the connector. I'll dismantle it fully and check the connections in greater detail.

How easy is it to change the battery? I need to do mine too.

It's fairly easy on the 2nd gen one. I used the guide from here :-http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod

It can be a bit fiddly opening the case for the first time but once you get the knack it's not too bad.
The worst bit for me was de-soldering the existing battery, I think Michael J Fox has steadier hands than me!

    Default iPod Touch repair

Put it in rice for a couple of days it will absorb the moisture and may fix everything.
