Finally got a MacBook Pro

After years of hating the Apple for most of the usual reasons I got a MacBook instead of getting another Sony which is still going after 6 years.
Mainly because we use them at my Magazine and really wanted to see if it is good as my Mac mates go on about.
First Impressions are solid build and looks nice but not really made me go wow yet. What is the best media player, got Vlc as I get my Nzb's and stick on my external HD to plug directly into my Samsung 3d tv to watch films...Got Perian but doesnt play MKV's

I use VLC on the Mac Mini dude, along with XBMC (which is awesome). I did download a program that allows quicktime to view AVI's but I cant for the life of me think what it is...ah, yes, its called Perlan. Seems to work pretty well.

With the above 3 I can play anything I want...kinda problem-free. You may wanna invest in an apple remote too...

Outta curiosity, just tested an MKV on XBMC, no worries...and on VLC, after a few errors it played...

I'm another vlc user on Mac, with bo issues. Also use it to play flac files

Another for plex (actually comes in two parts now, a player and media centre) - will catalogue everything for you and scrape art etc. easy to view films by genre, recently added, unwatched etc, tv shows by show/season. Depending on your Samsung tv model you can install plex on it too and stream from your laptop/pc etc.
