Shit cowboy installed my new windows

hi i have had new windows in stalled from the council by a fucking cowboy, i have put some many complaints in now im gonna have to take it to higher person at the council office.

if there are any window fitters please advise if in the following pics these are correct

this window was 100mm to short so was centred thats why the trim is at an angle, there has not been any expanding foam used at all on any of the 15 windows installed

this is the biggest window and is pissed, on the out side it is set flush with the brick work which is deffo wrong as we had new drip trays installed before the windows and the end of the drip tray is an inch from the edge of the brick

yes ok we havent paid for them, as we are council tenats but we still pay rent and i gotta live with this shit.
the fitters whacked the fuck out the old windows to remove them and done damage to the inside of the the house that they covered with trim on trim

Regardless of whether he pays for them or whether he pays market rent it is still his home and he obviously takes some pride in it. Why shouldn't he complain if they have done a crap job. I own my own house but I used to live in a council house and pay rent. I would never say that a council tenants house is any less his home than my house is my home. (">

Yes why cant i complain, i offered to pay and change the windows my self, but council said no as i wanted to make some windows bigger, i have 5 windows that are only 500mm wide on the front of house and wanted to double them in size. Regardless of weather i paid for the windows or not still done a shit job. and as to owning my own house, i would like to, but im not always guaranteed work, im an electrician and there isnt a lot of work here, so there for i wouldnt want a mortgage at the mo.

Yes its same here, i asked about the glass as its thermal coated or something and it had a sticker on saying this side face out, and 2 were facing in. And the handles for fire exits they wrong too, also got some down stairs windows with no locks which from what i been told insurance void.

So because you own your own home (or have a mortgage) and pay "market rent" you have more of a right to complain than people who live in council properties?

    Can you elaborate?

I doubt it's entirely the fitters fault.
Being a council they'll want rock bottom prices, so the fitters company will have been given a set of measurements to make all the windows on the estate to.
Even though they were all built at the same time I guess not all the windows are the same size for each house so they fill the gap with whatever they can get their hands on.

The fitters get the blame when in reality they just have to work with what they have.

All the windows was measured and ordered its just the one that is 100mm to small. The rest are leaning out, as its heavy rain at the mo rain is pouring in. The goverment set a standard of having every home energy efficient but how can this be with these windows leaks and bad drafts.

im not knocking anyones pride based on a property being rented or owned, in fact of course id rather a neighbour that took pride in where they lived than someone who didnt give a shit. of course if rain is entering the property then that isnt a good service. but stuff being wonky by a few mm.....? (ok lets not get into a debate about 'how many mm' is acceptable)

my point was more around questioning the principle that if youre provided with something at a reduced rate / 'free' then should you have the same rights to complain. clearly most feel that this is the case. having dealt with housing cases for over 10 years ive seen lots of stories from both extremities, and when you hear of people in 6 bedroom london properties complaining about stuff as 'entitlements' when others that havent had the same 'luck' of being afforded a property at some point for whatever reason have a much harder life. so i guess its a question of fairness.

ironically, costs of public authority works are astronomical. of course they typically go via the compulsory competitive tendering process that normally awards the contract to the cheapest bidder but the on-costs for these projects are rocket high. where a private individual would be able to find double glazing for say 3-4k, a public authority charge could be in the region of 15-20k by the time the project management costs etc are weighed in.

someone has to pay for all of this, and at a time where we need more investment in jobs and public services i guess my distaste is where we have a society that affords people cheap rent and others dont benefit. not exactly an equal socialist system in play.

Ive also seen applications for right to buy where, for example, a joint application was made with the tenants having a joint income of over 100k. how the fuck is that situation fair.

look at other examples where the tories re-introduced the right to buy grant scheme. i recall reading an article where the tenants were provided with a 75k grant. so tell me how long it would take a 'normal saver' to achieve 75k worth of savings. so im drifting way off topic, dipping into experiences that ive had, and perhaps forming the view that questioned the original post.

its a wider issue, of whether the welfare state is fair, whether it works, and who the 'winners and losers' are.

I don't know much about the council-house scenario, but I think it's common sense to do something properly since you are doing it in the first place.
Also complaining is valid, at least to ensure the same company doesn't win the next bid-war just because it offers lowest prices.

But to my point, in council-houses, who will be paying for the heating? as there will be substantial heat-loss as a result of bad windows. Also condensation and mold could be added to the cost in damages to the building and health issues.
“If I asked you to have sex with me, would the answer to that question be the same as the answer to this question?”

I didn't realise it was raining in, you should be on the phone all day and tell them its damaging the inside walls and causing damp etc. Rain entering a property should be a priority job surely? I went crazy when my rented house roof was leaking.
