Yes he is only a footballer. But if you are going to hero worship any footballer, which many do, he is probably the most decent of the large superstars.

He is still paying a fair amount of tax though. 170k a week. Only this time it goes to charity (if it actually gets there), rather than those Frogs. If Beckham wanted to avoid tax there are also other ways of doing this. I don't know him, so can't judge either way.

I have similar thoughts mate.

The way I see it is that David Beckham has made the most (understatement) of the hand that he has been dealt.

The only reason he's not regarded as one of the best English players is because he left united. Just before he went to madrid he was the best player in uniteds team. Everyone thought united would crumble. People read too many papers.
