My exchange has gone live now so banged my order in. Guy at Be offered me 9 quid a month before raising the request for my MAC code. Can't fucking wait.

lucky git
Clowns fucked my order up so as I am moving from Be claim they cannot do it any other way than put me on normal broadband and then move me to Infinity. Not too bothered but location of the Infinity box is bothering me as I don't want the ugly bastard by my front door where the master socket is. assuming they will be able to put it somewhere more appropriate with the use of a longer ethernet cable? I have a switch downstairs fed by my switch in the loft so assuming a bit of reverse of network flow but should be fine providing they can shift the cable far enough to get it to where I want it.
Cowboy that installed mine said they would run the extension for the modem anywhere in the house - but the have to go the shortest way and drill through walls rather than follow skirting boards etc

A lot of the inifinity/fibre engineers are actually ex-service people. BT employ a lot of these when they get back from their tour of service or leave the army.
Also it's not usually an extension. With Inifinity you get one chance (and one only) for the engineer to move the master socket to elsewhere in the house. Sometimes in old houses it's worth doing this just to get the wiring checked out more than anything but if you can live with the box in it's original place I would stick with that.

Still getting around 41meg - he left the master socket where it was in the hallway and ran an extension to the lounge probably about 20m long and that's where the modem plugs into

I have an extension running from the master socket in the kitchen, around a door and then into the living room where the modem is. All seems fine and I get 75 megs. Doesn't seem to disconnect now either which is good. But still not 100% sure if they're throttling my FTP or not.....
I must of got a fill in engineer when I had my fibre put in, I was asking questions the engineer had no clue about, he admiited he just installs the hardware and that's all he knows, he didn't even have a handheld diasnostic computer so couldn't even find out what speed I was connected at ( other than doing a speed test), im just lucky the install went smoothly
Didn't need mine moving but the engineer gave me a spare face plate for my kids (Their broadband is TERRIBLE!) My Infinity rocks though. 7 megabytes per second at times! BT said I would get about 20mbps lol.
