    Default Ipad Mini Questions

I currently have a Nexus 10 but want to get something smaller primarily to read but also play some games (apple seems to have a much better selection) and maybe a little surfing too. It would be nice to get some opinions from some that have owned a nexus 7 so to see how they compare.

    1. The display, I've read that it has quite a low PPI but is it ok for reading books ?. Also is it possible to read epubs on this ?.

    2. Are there any decent alternatives to itunes, don't fancy using it as I'm so used to the ease of dragging and dropping.

    3. Is there as much free apps/games as there is on the android play store ?.

    4. Can this device handle 720p/1080p mkvs and is there an easy to get these onto the device ?.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

Ok I have both the mini and nexus 7. I like both, but nexus7 better for reading, drag and drop, and if you install mx player it will play any movie format you throw at it. Apple good for apps and not good for mkvs.

    1. Yes, suitable for reading books.
    2. There are many alternatives, i-FunBox for a start.
    3. More, with less ads. (IMO)
    4. Yes, various apps but can be played from "Videos" when converted with Handbrake.

To add to this all Nexus 7s appear to suffer from screen seperation issue on the left had side in the middle where there is insufficant plastic case for the screen to be glued too.

This eventually becomes more noticeable In use as the glue gets warm and melts and can result in cracking the screen as users notice it and push the screen back. Just search ebay for nexus 7 cracked screen to see.

They tried to fix the problem by removing screws attaching the screen but this just extends the time untill the problem appears.

Cheers guys, I was interested in either the ipad mini or nexus 7 but just found out that a 8" version of the galaxy note tablet might be coming out soon so I'll probably go for that if it isn't too expensive.
