5 images stacked (was a couple of milli out on the back one) but came out reasonably well

    Exif: 1/160sec, f/9.0, ISO 100

Superbly done mate. Stacking isn't something I've ever managed to do properly. I think another trip is in order for you to show me properly hehe.

MPE-65 next then...to compliment that 5D II even more than your 100 already does?

    Thanks to dpSparhawk

I wish Ian m8, but I have a used 70-200 L f/4.0 arriving Monday, and I'm in the market for a wide angle lens such as the 17-40L if I can get one around the £400 mark.

The 65 remains a long way off as I need to have useable lenses for everyday stuff...

The 17-40 comes up occasionally on TP for that price. I bought the 16-35 at Focus the other week but not had chance to play with it properly yet.

I see the 17-40 mentioned a hell of a lot... Is it an absolutel MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to do landscape stuff?

I think also, that the 17-40 is a definite FF users lens and probably not worth purchasing for anyone with a crop sensor (That is, if it's even compatible with crop). It's not a lens on my purchase list (yet) but something I'd probably end up asking about in the future anyway

17-40 is a useable focal length on a crop not far from the 18-55 and is very good value lens it doesnt do what it is designed for being a wide angle but the range is very usable. if you want the wide then its 10-22 which i have as well and will be selling if i get round to it

Yeah I have the 10-22 already and it's a great lens. Just wondered about the 17-40. I've had a nose and it produces some excellent IQ.

Those who I know all say images jump onto the sensor of the 5D with the lens - it would do me well enough for my landscaping abilties, but a 16-35 would rob me blind!

Just ordered a 17-40L, almost mint condition, for £430.

Happy days. If I can find any decent areas of land to photograph!!!

    Paul.

    Very nice mate.

Well, you're 40 miles closer to the lakes than I am dude... I think once the weather is a little more reliable we could arrange a day out. Up there the other day it was constantly raining which has rendered most of my shots useless due to god awful light.

Well, I don't mind being out and about in the rain Pete.... if I'm walking or cycling but it gets a bit annoying when you want a shot that's a bit more than a whole bunch of grey. Flat light and photography is not fun.

Threes are tons of shots in the lakes or anywhere no matter what the light and weather. A little harder yes but they are there.my shot from today is flat light and it was spitting
