There are 3 types of people in the world - those who make things happen, those who watch things happen; and those who wondered what happened.

i often wonder about similar things, such as protein shakes and the gym
so a balanced diet is much more important but does a shake provide you with a placebo effect, after which the mind works to heal or provide strength. we often underestimate the power of the mind.
Its bollox!
Fon
but apparently Copper goes back thousands of years.
Just found this interesting article :

My mum has had problems for years with arthritus ... I was sceptical about these but she reckons it makes a very big difference .. not a complete cure but she has much less pain and more movement she says..
I think they defo do work... In the same way that a placebo makes the taker feel better, 2x placebos have a stronger effect than 1, and placebos administered intravenously are the stronger than tablets. Placebos even work when the taker knows they are placebos. It's a trick on the subconscious which I guess would be no different whether it's a sugar pill or a copper bracelet.
Im gonna try one around my knob!

I think a lot of these so called 'remedies' rely on our natural instinct that they work by putting your mind in the psychological positive attitude that they will. I don't think we give enough credence to the power of positive thought personally, after all, it's generally accepted we don't use anywhere near the full capability of our own minds.

Errm, not quite, we use virtually all of our brain, all of the time.

I didn't say we only use 10% of our brain, or any other set percentage of it other than we don't use anywhere near it's potential which is different. Even the 'myth' buster you linked to isn't absolute. If that were true, we have reached the ultimate in our own evolution, which I also highly doubt.

I never said you did. It just debunks the myth that we don't use almost all of the brain. Neuroscience has known it's garbage for donkeys years.
I believe we do use the brain to it's full potential. Why would it be over engineered when the rest of nature is so perfectly balanced? I've also read that savants have slightly different brain structures to 'normal' brains... The next evolutionary step maybe?

It's part of process, via evolution. It's giving us the future ability to evolve to full potential through minimum physical change. To believe the mind is at it's full potential now is to say it was in the time of the Neanderthal man, after all, it's been nothing more than a blink of an eye in evolution terms since then. Nature perfectly balanced? Never such a thing... we have fish that can fly and penguins that can't.

You shouldn't dismiss wikipedia so easily, especially when you're own judgement on what your 'mum reckons'. Wikipedia has citations for a reason, if you don't trust the information provided then read the citations.
As for copper/magnetic bracelets, load of bollocks.
