Info SkyDrive 3.0 For iOS Released, Features Support For iPhone 5 And iPad mini, Full-Res

Although Apple’s iCloud service very much looks after those in ownership of an an iOS device or Mac, the same cannot be said for the cloud service of rival Microsoft. SkyDrive is available across all of the major platforms, and today, the version tailored to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has just been bumped to version 3.0. As you would expect from a whole number update, there are plenty of new features off the bat, including support for full resolution photo downloads, iPad mini and iPhone 5 support, as well as a completely revamped interface. Full details, as well as the all-important download link, can be found after the break!

Support for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini has been a long time coming, and if you’re wielding one of the newer, Lightning-enabled devices, you can now enjoy a fuller, sufficiently optimized experience. But the marquee feature of this significant, version 3.0 update, is the introduction of some impressive photo management features.

With so many folks using the cloud to keep those visual memories safely stored away, users now have much more control over the process thanks to the ability to select the sizes of uploaded and downloaded images. For photography aficionados, this means you can now store snaps in full resolution, and since metadata is reserved, you won’t lose anything from the original.

The performance of the app in general is noted in the changelog as having been significantly improved, and having given it a very brief trial run on an iPhone 5, there does seem to be substance to this claim.

If you wish to get started With SkyDrive 3.0, then please check the direct link provided below. Alternatively, tap the App Store app icon on your device’s home screen, and install / update from there.

All in all, I’d say its a very impressive update from Microsoft, and as a SkyDrive user, I am pleased in particular with the ability to download images in full resolution.
