i have a skybox f5 simly because i was ready up about cs etc and wanted to what it was all about, yeah ok the box is basic and the remote is a bit shity, but touch wood i have had no problems what soever, even though my mate has the box at t heh moment (dont move into new house until end of apr)

anyway with the new measure sly are coming up with cs may not last to much longer, so i though whats the point in spending loads on a box that coud potentiall be a doorstop in a few month

The only thing I have heard of is something new in the boxes that is in HD boxes that can encrypt/decrypt the control words but this wont/cant be implemented until everyone goes HD and gets a box upgrade which too many do not want to do..
Sky have roughly 10million subscribers of which 4million are HD (skys official figures) so they would need to send most of the remaining 6 million subscribers a new box to be able to implement the extra layer of security..
That must be years away imho.. the money they would have to fork out now to do it quickely I imagine would be far, far more than any revenue they are losing due to cardsharing so I think it is a waiting game and estimate 2 years plus probably longer

There has been a new reg method that will stop the card from being shared well sports and movies and HD. It isn't years away it has already started it affects all sky boxs as except for the Thomson model were they are offering a new box for free as the update can't be aplied to them. . Thats what people on other forums are saying and From what I'm reading.

J-Tag 360 RGH 360, PS3 Super Slim, Xbox 360 Slim, WDTV Live with CFW, Vu+ Solo 2, Dreambox 500HD Connected to 1M Motorised Dish.

From bits I read it was claimed that all SD boxes cannot take the update so although in theory CS would lose HD all none HD stuff could still work via cardshare whether it be Movies or sports e.t.c
Basically until Sly actually turn on the anti CS measure we cant really know for sure though can we.. only thing we can be sure of is that $ky are not fools

Just been reading around some other forums and it looks like loads of CS'ers have had their cards stop working....
All say they put card in original sky box to update entitlements and then all premium channels stopped working when they put back in linux receiver !!!!
Only ones saying no probs are ones with SD boxes and ones with the thompson HD box as apparently they cant take the firmware update !!!

    Interesting times lol

So the box needs an update to be able to affect the card? I guess then the updated box then blocks the card. Why cant they just block the card direct, without puting it into a sly box? I know for a fact when they turn the card off, when in a dreambox it takes the update and turns off.

My limited understanding is the firmware pairs the card to the box with an additional layer of security.... This new paired info cannot be read by the likes of cccam or oscam e.t.c which is where the problem lies
Someone correct me if I am talking shite !!!

It's not looking good. And by the looks of things if you have a Thompson box or SD box and you don't accept the new box they are sending you foc they will be switching the card of until it is put into the new upgraded box.

    from another source:
Last summer sky revealed plans that they would be changing the way they were going to be pairing their cards which was due to be rolled out early in 2013 and its happening now ! Already boxes in certain areas are affected (mainly amstrad receivers) with the loss of all HD sports/movies and any other premium channel add on,the only channels remaining are the family pack channels in sd format.

The new pairing method is working because any emu available today cannot read the new boxid that cards are using now after an entitlements update thus rendering all premium hd channels defunct on servers.

Payservers no dought will already be trying to find a way round this but i do not think its gonna be a smooth journey for them,it was a long time coming and payservers are mostly to blame for the change but the revenue sky are losing must be massive.

Anyway it was just a heads up incase any of you were thinking of spending your hard earned cash only to find the channels you thought you would receive are in darkness.
