Default Sticker to go over apple on Macbook

I fancy making a sticker design that will go over the lit apple on my Macbook. Was looking at round stickers, but would like to find a template that means that any transparent area is in the correct place, and lit up correctly.

Anyone have any clues were i could find a template to help me out with this?

    You mean something like this:

I use a combination of CorelDraw and Vector Magic to design stickers. I use a Summa vinyl cutter/plotter to cut the design. Lots of designs on Ebay but if you want something more individual you will have to design your own. Don't know if you have done anything like this before or have access to a cutter/plotter but I will happily cut some vinyl for you. What sort of design did you have in mind? To look effective the sticker will need to have a large enough area of vinyl to surround the apple logo.

Do you mean using a template to line up the design or do you need a template of the logo itself to add to a design? I'm guessing that Using a template to line up the design will be difficult because there is no flat square edge to line it up to but you should be able to line the apple shape cut from the vinyl up with the logo itself, then taping the design along one edge as a hinge before removing the backing paper and sticking it down. Does that make sense (">

Edit: If its a vector template of the apple logo itself you need then here's one I cooked earlier. Its in .eps format: Apple Logo.rar

The complete design will need to be in vector format in order to cut it with a plotter cutter.

You could go for a full colour print like the one below if you have access to a large format solvent ink printer, but you will still need something like CorelDraw to size it accurately to fit the logo. (">

You don't have to necessarily stick with the apple logo either:

Edit: And you don't have to totally surround the apple logo with the design either it seems. (">

    Thanks guys!

BigBird - excellent post. However i was thinking of something far more simple like this:

    space invader sticker.jpg

I gave it a go in Photoshop with my own little design, however what i found was the circle diamter was right (5cm), but the design, when centered would over lap the apple logo and have small areas where it wasn't illuminated.

I dont really want to shrink my design, so thought if i increase diameter to 6cm, and have a template of the apple log that i could add as a layer in photoshop, i could use that as a guide to make sure the design was within the limits of the apple logo, and still centered on the background. I tried this - and failed miserably! LOL

Thats why I was looking for a template so i could just worry about the design and centering it etc.

Are you familiar with CorelDraw or any other vector graphics program. If not I can vectorise a simple bitmap for you. The sharper the edges the better and 1 colour (a sillouette) if possible. I will also cut it from vinyl for you. Wont cost you anything.

You could easily vectorise your own bitmap using a copy of vector magic which I can sort out for you if you want. (">

Don't keep a lot of vinyl colours because it's just a bit of a hobby. Used to sell a few rugby and Welsh Dragon stickers on Ebay a couple of years ago but haven't bothered lately because it just isn't worth the bother. I just like the design side of it.

Below is a list of colours I have available. All you need to do now ptm is decide on the design. (">

All colours are a gloss finish unless stated otherwise. Also note that colours may not look quite the same on a different monitor.

There are two ways to make these. One is to use a solvent printer to print on clear vinyl, but unless the ink is dense enough some light may show through where you don't want it to. The other way, the proper way in my opinion, and the way it is done in the video, is to have the stickers cut from black or coloured vinyl where there is no ink or printing involved.

How many does he want for his work? Going to cost me the same to post one as it is to post a dozen to you. And vinyl left over from the 600mm width of the roll will only be going in the bin anyway so if you want me to cut a few more then it isn't a problem. (">
