o2 now unlocking second hand o2 simlocked iphone5 for free!

Just a head's up for forum member's o2 are now unlocking second hand iphone 5 phone's which are not locked to someone else's contract,they just have to be o2 locked,just had two done in a matter of min's,sorry if this has been posted before.

On the off chance I filled out the form for my O2 business contract iPhone 5, only about 8 months in to the 24 month contract and I have received an email and text to say it's been unlocked. I don't have another nano sim to test in it though.

Nice to see it's worked for somebody else,it 100% unlocked mate as i've tried a orange/EE sim in both my iphone's and all that was need was for it to connect to itune's and they were unlocked!I was going to pay around £50 for each of my unlock code's via an unlock site but i'm glad I did'nt.

network is always cheapest option for factory unlock on iphones, O2 have done this to compete with vodafone who also unlock for free pity three and EE cant follow suit

Guys. Under european law, your networks are obliged to unlock any billphone once you have completed your contract. Some networks have relaxed their rules, and will unlock earlier, particularly on corporate accounts. But be aware, should you/the company stop paying the bill, or change networks while the contract period is still active,without paying a buyout penalty, the network may bar the phone/imei. They are entitled.(technically your in breach of contract).

In the case of ready to go/pay as you go, there is an implied contract. There will be a set figure, sometimes over a fixed period. You are entitled to ask for the terms and conditions when buying the phone, they are obliged to disclose this figure(as a result of a supplimentary eu directive). Always worth checking with your network, they don't like it, but they are obliged legally. As a rule, the amount required will reflect the price of the phone sim free first day. Hope this helps.

Whoops, sorry. Be warned, in so far as I'm aware, there is no 100% safe third party unlock on the i4s or i5, only the factory unlock.
If you go to update/restore one which has been unlocked by anyone other than apple/your network, it will almost definitely relock, and the likelyhood of it being bricked is extremely high.

I have had 2 iPhones unlocked now when contracts are up. I told voda who send my phone details and email to Apple. 2 - 7 days later you get an email advising to connect to iTunes and that's it job done and free of charge.
