Default Cheap Android tablet info needed

Got a good neighbour with not a lot of cash wanting a pressie for her 6 year old son - she's thinking of a laptop or kindle fire - I reckon a cheapish android tablet might be a better option.

Any recommendations for a decent one (sub £100 if possible)

If you know anyone who works at HP, their budget Slate 7 can be gotten by staff for £109. Its not supposed to be that bad...screen is inferior to the Nexus 7 though, but it does have a microSD card slot so expanding the 8gb will be cheap.

For a 6 year old a a football and some play dough !!! Other than that your not going to get much round £100 thats halve decent.. If you have a tj hughes store by you they have them around £100 other than that those tv shopping channels have them on

Playstation Generation victim unfortunately he's had a dsi since he was 3 and schoolmates with rich parents who have given their kids iPads/phones etc. He lives with his auntie as she's his guardian now cos mum's a junkie waste of space so cash is tight - I reckon a basic tablet in a case would be better than a laptop or kindle so said I'd look into options for her.

It's the auntie I'm helping - I know he's not biologically her son but he's lived with her so long we all think of him as that

Thanks Jag - no need for a whip round just yet, but appreciate the offer - money is tight for her, but she's happy to spend wisely - I reckon a laptop is a few years to early for him right now, and a kindle may be a bit restricted. It doesn't need to be state of the art, latest, greatest, fastest etc. There's a nice looking 7" Sumvision one on E-Buyer for £80, as long as he can play some games on it and not feel like the odd one out it'll do fine for him to start with, and hopefully become an educational tool for him as well - in a case and paling the same game I reckon him and his mates wouldn't know or care if it was Apple/Android or Windows they just like pressing the screen and playing the same games.

Argos do a decent looking refurb one for £45 delivered on their eBay clearance store.

The best budget one ATM seems to be the dual core acer iconia b1 which is £80 after cashback

Only criticism I have of these is the battery life isn't the best and the speakers are very quiet, But that's being ultra critical

ployo momo extreme is the same as the sumvision, great & fast But battery is crap(2 hours in full use) & one big drawback is the power connector, i have had to re solder mine twice in a year, the pin in the connector is really tiny, bad design imo

    +1 for the Ace B1.

It's light and fast, has a dual core processor. Feels a little plasticy at first but I'm really enjoying it over the Nexus 7 which may have a better screen res but the bloody screen itself over time comes away from the Nexus on the left hand side.

    Thanks to JonEp

£80 currently but I'm sure they have been cheaper.

    Is that any cop, Robbo?
I know it's a cheapo job but I'd pay that for one I can chuck in my rucksack for reading on the train and not be too worried about.
