Default Setting up my first VPN

Just bought a VPN Cisco router for a client and I'm trying to bend my head around the procedure for setting this up, but seeing as its the first time, I'm getting confused on how to sort it out.

It seems the Client software is trying to connect, but somethings missing.

I've got remote access to the router using a workstation over Teamviewer at the moment and QuickVPN installed to my machine.

Can anyone lend a hand or gimme a few pointers on the proper way to get this sorted?
The client needs it setup ASAP as he needs Remote Access using this router as of Wednesday night at the latest as he's off to Dubai first thing Thursday morning.

    -edit
I may have been a pillock and posted this in the wrong section (PC Software/VPN Client) maybe more accurate to be in PC Hardware as it's a VPN Router... No access to move from here if it needs moving.

Ignoring request for negotiation to (My IP Address) as Local is configured as Responder

What router model is it? Are you using Easy VPN (or EzVPN) and setting up via Cisco Config Pro or manually?

When you say a Cisco router, is this something running IOS with command line or does it have a GUI?

If it's IOS I won't be able to help you but if it's one of their SOHO offerings with a GUI I may be able to help.

    Thanks to Over Carl

Its a Cisco RV220W router and I'm attempting to set it up using the GUI.
I followed the Administrator Guide to try and configure most of it, but some of information was too 'general' I guess.
Only trying to get access for this client via QuickVPN for now for 'ease'... lol! Yeah, right.

I've been changing things on this router by remote access, but changed a setting I shouldn't have done and it's now gone offline (I got skills! )
I had a Cisco Techy help me and they told me what to change, there was a few settings (I forget what they all are) but some were

MTU Size from 1500 to 1425
Activate Allow connections from WAN (Internet).
    Allow Remote Management.

She then asked me to change to a DHCP setup and when I did that, the router went offline due to the way it's setup and the other end.
I've got to wait til about 7pm for the details to be changed back to get it online, but once it is, I can happily give access by Teamviewer and a VPN User/Pass to try and get this thing working.

The error message at the client side was -
"The remote gateway is not responding. Do you want to wait?"

Googling the errors gave a mixed bag of different of rubbish to try IMO.

Big thanks to fellow MOD OC for going above and beyond to help me and a pal sort this out.
Well deserved K+ and a beer (I know you like the odd beer or 2) via Paypal if this thing gets working correctly!

    Cheers matey.

Looks like you have sorted it?
I have been using Draytek vigor routers which are packed full of features including an easy to setup vpn server.(PTPP)
They are a good price as well, generally around the £130- £210 depending on model.

Draytek's aren't bad for the money. They are more stable than some routers but not the most stable I've seen. Also PPTP is pretty much regarded as insecure these days. Try setting up an IPSEC VPN and watch your VPN throughput plummet.

QuickVPN seemed to be the only client I was able to get to work with it.
Does the job, although Auto logging in is a feature it could do with. But it's a security risk to do it.

I was thinking of getting a Draytek Vigor 2750N for my Infinity home network, but not prepared to pay the price they are going for at the moment.

Cant complain at there price. Not had any issues to date. Yet!!!
I only use PPTP as its only used for a few mins maybe every couple of months, plus as you mentioned its faster than IPsec. Its only used for customer systems remote service/maintenance, no user critical/sensitive data is being transfered.
    Cheers
