Info YouTube Now Lets You Add An Epic Slowmo Effect To Your Uploaded Videos [VIDEO]

YouTube has added a new feature to its video editing mode, bringing an awesome slow motion mode to videos that are uploaded to the social video service. More details can be found right after the break.

YouTube’s not content with being the home of most of the internet’s video these days and seems to want to become the place that it’s edited now, too. If you’re someone who’s always uploading their videos to Google’s huge video sharing – and viewing – service, be it for business or just to get video of your newborn out to the world then you’re no doubt always looking for ways to make that content more interesting for the viewer.

By interesting, we obviously mean flashy, and there’s nothing more flashy than a spot of slow motion video, especially when done right. Slomo can make the most mundane of video a lot more interesting, which is no doubt why the folks at YouTube have baked a slow motion feature right into its video editing suite.

Turning any uploaded video into slow motion is as easy as could be. Simply click ‘Edit’ and work your way over to ‘Enhancements.’ You’ll notice a new button with a little turtle on it. Pressing this will let you alter the slow motion effect, with options for 12.5, 25 or 50 percent of its original speed. So yes, a 50 percent slower video should cut it for you if you are into that sort of thing.

There’s one caveat though, and that’s that the resulting video can only be up to ten minutes long. We’re also not sure if the feature is rolling out internationally or not, so let us know if you find it isn’t popping up in your editing view. Hopefully it’ll work its way out to everyone, though.

YouTube has become the main source of online video content for most of us these days, even with the likes of Vimeo battling for a piece of the action. With Google’s backing and a constant stream of new content, YouTube shows no sign of slowing down when it comes to growth, something demonstrated by this latest feature addition.

Here’s a demo of slomo, before and after the edits have been made, see the difference for yourself:
