Xbox One games are at least twice as powerful as Xbox 360 games, people. They must be, or Amazon UK wouldn't be charging over twice the price for them. Colour the details "strictly provisional" and "highly unappetising" for the moment. The retailer has FIFA 14 and Call of Duty: Ghosts available to buy on Xbox One for £89.99, as against £40 for the current generation versions. Activision and EA have yet to announce official price points for the next gen editions of either game. It's all placeholder stuff, of course, but it's worth musing about whether Amazon seriously believes we'll see a price jump next generation. Most pundits feel the present, £40-50 premium price point is utterly out of whack with what consumers are prepared to pay, hence the popularity of second-hand games.
It's thought that the growth of digital distribution could allow for more and more reasonable price points, as there won't be any retailers taking a cut of the profits. That's all rather hypothetical, however. In practice, a company like Activision is probably going to charge what it thinks it can get away with.
