For me, the fact that the PS4 is still €100 cheaper is still the main point. As a bonus it doesn't have a webcam and microphone always on and pointing at me either.

For me to consider the XBOX, it would have to be the same price as the PS4.

If you don't want a camera/microphone that can be activated remotely to monitor what you are doing I am suspecting you don't have a mobile phone either? Or is it running GOOGLE android or MICROSOFT WM8? Both of these are companies that are part of the NSA thing from what I understand. I would probably stop making telephone calls or sending texts too just to be safe and burn your cash cards and debit cards so they can't watch what you are buying! Might be time to just use cash (wearing latex gloves so there are no finger prints), wearing a prosthetic mask (so that none of the cameras in the streets can identify you) and using public transport - although always get on and off at different stop so they can't work out exactly where you are going from or travelling to and don't whatever you do get a job as the tax people will have you then!

Joking aside though MS have already said you can turn them off but that they still need to be connected as it is part of the integral system.

I think you will be most happy with Skype etc... if you have one. I have a Samsung Series 8 and we use Skype on that all the time. M$ are really pushing it.

Indeed. I loved playing ME3 with Kinect - it was fluid and natural ordering the other characters around and even the talky bits worked well. I have Skype on my LG but have never used it as I don't have a camera other than the XBL Vision thing and Kinect - neither of which work with it as far as I know.

Aside from that the camera features for recognition are greatly improved on and will make logging in a breeze if it works as well as they suggest.

I think people are just looking to bash the consoles. Now MS have taken away the DRM all that's left is the Kinect which I still firmly believe will make the XBox One stand out from the crowd.

Of course a lot of games are multi platform so will not use Kinect or if they do it will not be as well realised as it should be. As it is my Kinect is plugged into my 360 at the moment and I have no worries about "snooping". What are they going to see? Me and my mates eating pizza and playing CoD, Fifa or Kinect games? Big deal! If they want to do that then go ahead LOL.

Too true, the main thing is that there is something to bash about the XBOX as it is trying to evolve where as the PS4 seems just to be a more powerful PS3 whoopee do!

I think the features you don't realise are there will be the ones you will miss onc e you have had them.

Let's say for example you have 2+ kids. Each have their own Live account to play games with friends. The Kinect will scan their faces and automatically log them into their accounts.

My Samsung does this now with logging into some of the Apps. Never used it as it is optional, but I think it is the future.

In fairness to Sony, I guess the PS3 was way ahead of the xbox in that it was aimed at being a 'one' box does all media console. MS are only just catching up whereas Sony was already there.

Many of the 'haters gotta hate' are moaning about the fact the One has to go online etc... blah blah blah...
SO, with this in mind why are Bony focusing on this dedicated 'Share' button and showcasing features that can only be utilised whilst online...

On one hand you want to hate M$ and don't see why your machine should be connected to the internet. On the other 'your' P$4 has a button for a specific feature that 100% requires the machine to be connected to the internet.

Oh - I think I know a person that bought one. Used it a few times and traded it in. He said it was good but very much an after thought and standalone app. Shame really as it was a good idea but with STBs and satellite it was doomed from the off.

Not strictly true. Most 3rd party developers code one game and then export it to different platforms. They will have to code a control mechanism that is compatible with both systems. Kinect will still be an optional extra.

Sure, it will still be an optional extra, but M$ are making it so that if they did chose the option to do so then every single One owner would (in theory) be able to utilise that feature and not just a few people who bought one.

I have worked in software for many many many years now and software engineers are always looking for something new and exciting to do. I think we will see most games, including cross platform, take advantage of it somehow even if it is just an easter egg.

Had PS3 and X360 last gen but they got little time whereas I continued about the same level on the PC gaming throughout so may give em a miss. At least for a good while, let the dust settle after release and see how they are faring. At the moment after the recent announcements I would probably go XONE if I had to.
