James Gandolfini dead at 51

HBO has confirmed that Sopranos actor James Gandolfini died today. He was 51. The three-time Emmy winner possibly suffered a heart attack while on vacation in Italy, reports Variety.



Best known for his role as mob boss Tony Soprano, he recently appeared in films Zero Dark Thirty and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Gandolfini's current projects included Fox Searchlight's Animal Rescue, HBO's Criminal Justice and the CBS show Taxi 22.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin, and a son.

I feel like the last episode of Sopranos all over again. I was gutted when Tony died. As I believe he did. Now I am gutted that "Tony" has died.

It's always going to be hard to break into a new role and pay it well when you were so big as another character in something earlier. Happened to lots of good actors.

I recently just watched him in Zero Dark Thirty. Always carries that sense of danger and presence, just by being James.

RIP. Very sad news. I've just finished watching the 6 seasons of The Sopranos again. He will always be Tony Soprano and it's tough to think of him as anyone else. Plus, his performance was so good and he was perfect for that role that it's hard to compare it to any of his other performances.

Agree on this, True Romance rates as one of my top five films. He did do a great job in that film and as the Junkie says a young Tony really.

He was a very underrated actor who was very good at his job and apparently a really great guy personally too who had time for everyone.
