Wanker What a complete and utter Cnut !

Jobseeker's Allowance changes planned for unemployed

Osborne outlines a welfare cap and withdrawal of winter fuel payments to ex-pats in hot countries

Jobseekers will to have wait seven days before first claiming Jobseeker's Allowance and may have to sign on every week, under new government plans.
Chancellor George Osborne also said those claiming unemployment benefits who did not speak English would have to attend English classes.
Jobseekers will also be required to have a CV before claiming benefits.
Mr Osborne made the announcements as he outlined the government's latest round of spending plans.
He said weekly meetings with Job Centre staff would become mandatory for about half of jobseekers.
A Department for Work and Pensions spokesman said these were likely to be jobseekers who were deemed not to be doing enough to find a job themselves.
Other claimants working hard to find a job will be able to continue attending fortnightly meetings, as is currently required.

    'Unnecessary cruelty'

Currently claimants can begin receiving Jobseeker's Allowance three days after they become unemployed, but this is to be extended to a week for all claimants.

Treasury Secretary Danny Alexander told the BBC that extending the waiting period would bring the UK more in line with other countries, and help make job centre services more intensive and efficient.
Mr Osborne said: "Those first seven days should be spent looking for work and not looking to sign on."
The Treasury says the reforms, being brought in from next April, will deliver £350m in annual savings.
But critics said the delay could increase the troubles for families already suffering economic hardship, and may discourage claimants from looking for short-term contracts.
Duncan Weldon, senior policy adviser at the TUC, described the measure as "unnecessary cruelty"
The requirement to learn English is being introduced for those whose inability to speak English is a barrier to finding work.
Mr Osborne said insisting that jobseekers speak English was "a reasonable requirement in this country".
"From now on, if claimants don't speak English, they will have to attend language courses until they do," he told the House of Commons.

    Jobseeker's Allowance changes

    • Extending waiting period for first claims from three days to seven
    • Longer initial interviews for new claimants, who must provide a CV
    • Claimants with poor spoken English required to attend classes, or face sanctions
    • Weekly meetings with Job Centre advisers for those deemed not to be doing enough to find a job

Utter bullshit, in Germany you can actually sign on months in advance if you know you are about to be made redundant or unemployed.

Really you can only laugh. What planet do these people live on ? I am assuming the Lib Dems are going to back this ? And obviously Labour are going to announce their intention to NOT reverse it ? These people make me sick to the stomach.
Have any of you guys been following the progress of "The People's assembly" and Owen Jones ect. IMHO these are the working classes only hope.

Last I heard, the Job Centre made thousands redundant and haven't got the staff to cater for everyone to sign on every week.

Sounds like another MP pissing in the wind trying to make out he is making changes. All he'll do is sit on his arse for another few months getting HIS handouts.

Sign on every week... for what. There aren't any fucking jobs out there. What a total twat Osborne is.

My girlfriends son was told the other day to apply for a job over 16 miles away in Swansea, even though he has no personal transport. Fine if he had specialist qualifications which were needed for the job, but it was a shop assistants position with no qualifications required as training would be given. Are they saying that there is no one in Swansea that could easily take the job and save the environment by reducing the amount of travelling involved. What the hell is going on with this country. One thing I would like to see the Government do is up the 'minimum' wage to a liveable wage. It seems they are happy to set a pissy minimum rate of pay and then to let people apply for a top up with tax credits and help on housing benefit etc.

Why not up the legal minimum wage that larger companies (maybe 100+ employees) should pay to one that doesn't need the top up? Just seems silly the public purse is used in a way which lets companies pay peanuts to a lot of staff, yet the same companies announce millions in profit year on year.

Creating jobs at the jobcentre for people to check jobseekers have been effectively wasting everybody's time writing and sending out God knows how many pointless spec letters the jobseekers are mandated to send out every week when businesses can ill afford to waste time and money reading the damned things .... fckin genius.

At a time when everyone is expected to rein in cost how can this bring down the costs of jsp offices and claimants who now have to find the costs to get too there twice as often. If this is the way the condems think they are going to sway the voters into re electing them again they better get used to opposition cause there gonna be there for a while.

Did anyone see the propaganda on BBC Breakfast this week regarding the cuts? The "we're all in it together" brigade.

Whilst the likes of the Queen is getting yet another public purse 'pay' rise next year... yeah, we're really in it together lol.
