    Help Playing games in 3D

    Hi,
My lad has a PS3 and I think he'll be getting PS4 for Christmas, however we're thinking of getting him a new TV for his birthday and don't know if there's any point buying 3D or not. He tends to play COD and Fifa mainly, are these 3D or do you need to buy specific games?

    Thanks

games state their 3d capabilities as far as i know, I know there was a special version of Batman Arkam with a 3D mode and Uncharted 3 also supported it, but as for other titles I dunno.

If the 3D set doesnt cost much more then get it, but otherwise I wouldnt bother, I have a 3D telly and its a chore to use it, stupid fucking glasses, headaches and the screen always looks dark.

Motorstorm Apocalypse supports 3D but it makes me feel queasy.

I know Black Ops 2 on the 360 supports 3D so I assume the PS3 does too.

Bought an LG LED 3D screen a couple of months back and it is not dark. Looks bright and crisp - especially when compared the 3D plasmas. I also find my screen clearer than a lot of others I've seen. It's all down to preference.

You can get a top notch Panasonic 3D plasma (active glasses) or LG 3D LED (passive glasses) for around the £750 mark.

One other thing to bear in mind is that the 2D to 3D conversion that my LG does is actually really good! More so with games and BluRays I have found than compared to an SD signal but it does work a LOT better than I expected and doesn't give too much of a headache. Some native 3D games will make your eyes bleed lol

I tried to play cod in 3d on the xbox, it did look good, but I couldn't play for too long cause of headaches.

The novelty of 3D gaming soon wears off tbh, I played a few on PS3 + 360 in 3D and tbh motorstorm was the only one that I felt did it effectively Some of the FPS' did an awful job of it, throwing my hud at the same level as the screen even though the end of my gun was deeper into the scene, it was very disorientating I seem to recall Killzone was the best FPS i played in 3D. BUt if if it comes down to it, he's likely to use it for a day, wow for a bit then realise that everything just looks so much better in 2D (as they lower the rez for 3D).

For me the best for 3D I think was Gears of War 3 but even then I couldn't play more than 30 mins or so - also if you are playing a multiplayer game in 3D I found that if anything it was a disadvantage against other players to play in 3D - eyes take too long to adjust to it so it messes with your reactions.

I thought the PS3 was supposed to use native 3D like Blurays as opposed to the side by side stuff but motorstorm looks really low res anyway. Maybe it will be better on the next generation but I doubt it.
